Today, Den has his 6 month check up for the Momentum III Study. His first scheduled appointment is at 11:30AM, but we are heading up early to get his blood work and x-ray done before everything else. This way when we are done in the clinic, we can head home. It is going to be a long day, as is usual with study check in days.
We got Den’s blood work done by 930AM and his x-ray was done before 11AM. It seems that the wait in x-ray is the longest of all. But once Den is in it is 3 views and we are done. Next we headed up to imaging to check in for his echo and 6 minute walk. They called Den for the walk first. This time Den walked 546 feet with 4 stops. Not too bad…a little shorter than the last one, but still not bad. Den had his echo right after the walk and we only had the clinic visit to go. Maybe we would get out of here before afternoon rush hour started…maybe.
The clinic visit went smoothly. Den’s lab results were already back and his INR was 2.3 and all other results looked fine. The team added a new medication to Den’s daily regimen. Carvedilol at 3.125mg twice daily. They sent the order to our pharmacy and we could pick it up on the way home.
All in all it was a good day with no major speed bumps. We would be back tomorrow for Den’s check in with Dr. Reidy in the Eye Clinic.

Back to U of C today, We have an appointment with Dr. Reidy at 11AM. We always arrive early and today was no exception. We were called back at 10AM. Sometimes getting to an appointment early is a good thing! Dr. Reidy checked Den’s eye sight and said that is it holding steady and everything looked really good. He told me to stop all of the eye drops after this week. He said that the next time he would see us was in about a month for Den’s next cataract surgery! Den was so happy to know that he was finally going to have his vision back and be able get around a lot better! He couldn’t stop talking about it on the way home.
